WHY VACCINES ARE IMPORTANT TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19

Vaccines have been used for hundreds of years to prevent the spread of different diseases and save lives. Polio, rubella, whooping cough, and measles are diseases that vaccines have greatly reduced and prevented in the US.

When large populations are vaccinated, entire communities are protected by “herd immunity.”


When enough of the world reaches heard immunity, entire diseases can be eradicated. Smallpox is a disease that was eradicated due to vaccines.
